The Eko Guarantee Division of Encon, Aurangabad, in collaboration with the CCS National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), Jaipur, successfully organized a series of four Post-Harvest Management (PHM) training programs in Doli village, Jodhpur District, Rajasthan. These were conducted between October 18th and 29th, 2024, under the capacity-building initiative supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
🎯 Vision Behind the Initiative
India loses a significant portion of its agricultural produce due to inefficient post-harvest handling. Recognizing this gap, the training initiative aimed to empower smallholder farmers with practical knowledge and cost-effective techniques to reduce post-harvest losses, preserve quality, and improve marketability of their field crops.

Key Objectives:
- Educate farmers on post-harvest handling, storage, and preservation
- Demonstrate low-cost, practical techniques using local materials
- Promote hygiene, grading, and packaging practices
- Enable access to better markets through improved presentation and value addition
🗓️ Training Timeline & Outreach
Four sessions were conducted, each lasting three days and accommodating 30 farmers:
- Batch 1: October 18–20, 2024
- Batch 2: October 21–23, 2024
- Batch 3: October 24–26, 2024
- Batch 4: October 27–29, 2024
A total of 120 farmers from various parts of Jodhpur District participated enthusiastically. Each session ensured gender-inclusive and community-based participation, with a focus on small and marginal farmers.

📚 Content & Methodology
The trainings followed an interactive and field-oriented approach, combining lectures, demonstrations, and real-life case studies. Highlights of the curriculum included:
- Harvest timing and techniques
- Moisture testing, drying, and hygienic storage
- Indigenous and scientific pest control
- Grading and labeling practices
- Marketing strategies and value addition
Training materials were provided in the local language for better understanding and retention.

💬 Feedback & Impact
Participant feedback highlighted the program’s practical value and accessibility. Many farmers expressed confidence in implementing new techniques on their own farms.
“Earlier, our produce lost value before reaching the market. Now we know how to preserve quality and present it better,” shared a woman participant from Batch 2.
The program helped lay the foundation for future farmer-led innovation and collective marketing efforts in the region.
🤝 Commitment to Continued Growth
This initiative marks another milestone in the partnership between Eko Guarantee Division of Encon and CCS NIAM in promoting sustainable agriculture. By empowering farmers with knowledge, tools, and confidence, the training contributes directly to enhancing food security, rural income, and climate-resilient agriculture in India.
🌿 “When farmers are equipped beyond the field, they reap not just crops—but opportunities.”
